Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field in the fourth ODI of their five-match series in Harare, aiming to secure a consolation win. Chasing their first series sweep since a 4-0 victory over the UAE in 2019, Zimbabwe was asked to bat first on a chilly morning at Harare Sports Club. Despite their recent defensive success in the last two matches, early moisture in the pitch prompted Mehidy Hasan Miraz to focus on restricting the hosts to a manageable total, while Bangladesh’s batting lineup has struggled in recent outings.

Zimbabwe entered the match without regular captain Richard Ngarava, who is managing a long-standing back issue and workload concerns. The team also rested two of the three primary fast bowlers, Blessing Muzarabani and Newman Nyamhuri. In Ngarava’s absence, Sikandar Raza took charge of the side, partnering with Tanaka Chivanga and Ernest Masuku alongside Brad Evans in the pace attack. Additionally, left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza was included in the lineup.

Bangladesh made two tactical adjustments, bringing in left-arm seamer Shoriful Islam and an additional quick bowler, Mohammed Saifuddin, by dropping fast bowler Nahid Rana and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain. These changes reflect their attempt to secure a consolation victory in the series.

This weekend match, the only ODI in the series to be played on a Saturday, is anticipated to draw a large crowd to Harare Sports Club. The venue will host a double-header in Zimbabwean sports, as the national rugby team faces the USA later in the day—a historic first meeting between the two teams.
