ABU DHABI — Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club claimed its second consecutive Gi title, while Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club secured a third straight No-Gi championship at the recently concluded third Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi.

The final day of the eighth and final round featured competitors in the under-12, under-14, and under-16 age groups. Across the season, eight rounds were held throughout the UAE—five in the Gi format and three in No-Gi—providing clubs and academies regular competitive opportunities to develop their athletes. Overall standings were determined by cumulative points earned across all rounds.

In the final Gi standings, Baniyas placed first, ahead of Al-Jazeera Jiu-Jitsu Club in second and Palms Sports – Team 777 in third. For No-Gi, Sharjah Self-Defence took the top spot, followed by ADMA in second and Palms Sports – Team 777 in third.

Mohamed Salem Al-Dhaheri, vice chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, said in a press release: “This season’s competition demonstrates the continued improvement of our clubs and academies. The points system rewards consistent performance throughout the year and maintains a high level of competitiveness.

“Remaining at the top requires steady preparation and the ability to meet the challenges of every round. The championship has helped close the gap between clubs and academies while raising athlete skill levels across all age groups.”

Al-Dhaheri congratulated Baniyas and Sharjah Self-Defence on their titles and commended all participating organizations. He encouraged them to analyze their performances to refine training methods and support athlete progression.

Salem Nayef Al-Kathiri, chairman of Baniyas Sports Games Co., said: “We are proud to retain the Gi title for a second straight season. This success reflects the combined efforts of our management, coaches, and athletes, as well as our commitment to high standards throughout the campaign.

“Our team delivered consistent performances against formidable opponents. This title inspires us to keep improving, achieve more in domestic competitions, and develop athletes capable of representing the national teams.”

Al-Kathiri acknowledged the ongoing support and close involvement of Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, deputy prime minister, minister of the interior, and chairman of Baniyas Sports and Cultural Club.

Ahmed Saeed Al-Jarwan, chairman of Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, said: “Our third consecutive No-Gi title demonstrates the strength of our management and training programs, which have enabled us to build title-contending teams and maintain our position at the top.”

He dedicated the achievement to Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, supreme council member and ruler of Sharjah, in appreciation of his continued support.

Al-Jarwan also thanked the Sharjah Sports Council and praised the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for its efforts to develop the sport and elevate its championship standards.

He added: “Winning three titles in a row shows what can be accomplished when everyone at the club works together. Staying at the top is an ongoing challenge, and we have already begun preparing for next season.

“I extend my gratitude to our management and coaches for supporting our teams, and to our athletes’ families for encouraging their children. Our athletes’ discipline, sportsmanship, and strong performances reflect our commitment to developing champions who embody both sporting excellence and strong community values.”
