Manchester United are being urged to bring in a new left‑back to replace Luke Shaw after his defensive lapse gifted Ipswich Town an early lead at Old Trafford.

Reporting live from Old Trafford for BBC Sport, chief football news reporter Simon Stone said the evidence points to a clear need for Manchester United to add a primary left‑back option.

“The debate over whether Manchester United need another left‑back is settled by this performance — Luke Shaw is clearly struggling to cope with Abdul Fatawu,” he said.
