MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will convene its Annual General Meeting at its headquarters here on September 18, as announced by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia to member associations.
Among the key agenda items is the nomination of India’s representative to the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Notably, the meeting will also consider granting associate membership to the Cricket Association of Andaman & Nicobar Island, representing the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The proposal, previously discussed at an Apex Council meeting, will now be presented for formal approval at the AGM. If sanctioned, this would integrate the Union Territory into the BCCI framework. While associate membership does not confer voting rights, it would establish a pathway for Andaman & Nicobar to participate in India’s domestic cricket circuit.
Currently, 38 teams compete in BCCI-sanctioned domestic tournaments. The meeting will additionally oversee the election of two General Body representatives to the IPL Governing Council. Furthermore, the BCCI plans to induct a representative from the Indian Cricketers’ Association into the IPL Governing Council.
The assembly is also expected to confirm the newly constituted five-member junior selection committee, following recent recruitment efforts by the Board.
