- Binance is expanding its strategic partnership with Circle, signing a five-year extension of their cooperation.
- The crypto exchange platform is also investing $100 million into the stablecoin issuer’s ecosystem.
Two of the biggest heavy hitters in the crypto industry have reinforced their partnership with renewed commitment and a whopping investment. On Tuesday, Binance announced an expanded deal with Circle, while sealing it with a $100 million investment in the stablecoin giant.
Binance and Circle’s Partnership Expansion
In its latest blog post, Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange by trading volume, disclosed that it expanded its strategic partnership with Circle, the issuer of the world’s second-largest stablecoin by market cap. The agreement extends their cooperation by five more years.
Under the renewed agreement, Binance will integrate Circle’s USDC stablecoin deeper into its ecosystem, spanning trading pairs, savings products, and payment channels like Binance Pay. It will also include its active promotion of the US dollar-based stablecoin, especially in emerging markets.
Meanwhile, Circle will maintain the infrastructure services supporting USDC holders and users on the platform. It covers the token’s secure custody, settlement, and smart contract wallet services.
The real icing on the cake comes in Binance’s $100 million investment in Circle. The crypto exchange injected the funds by purchasing the stablecoin issuer’s CRCL Class A common stock at a 5% discount to its previous closing price of $94.49.
Official Statements from Binance and Circle Bosses
Binance Co-CEO Richard Teng highlighted that Circle is “one of the most credible issuers in the world.” He noted that USDC, Arc, and its infrastructure have significantly upgraded how value moves across borders.
Additionally, Teng emphasized that Binance’s $100 million investment in Circle, along with its partnership extension, represents long-term conviction in building a more inclusive, transparent, and compliant digital economy.
“A stable, trusted digital dollar should not be a privilege – it should be available to anyone with a phone,” said Teng. “That’s the future this partnership is designed to deliver.”
Moreover, Jeremy Allaire, Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Circle, called Binance “one of the largest and most dynamic platforms in the world for using digital currency.” He claimed that the exchange has created the “Internet’s largest financial super app” and has become “the most widely used wallets in the world for dollar stablecoins.”
“Together, we see incredible opportunities to leverage USDC to expand dollar access, support savings and investment with innovative digital asset products, and reach people and businesses throughout global emerging markets,” Allaire commented.
