Binance customers withdrew approximately US$3.64 billion—representing 2.1 per cent of the platform’s total assets—as the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange resumed operations on Sunday. The restart follows a massive breach last week in which hackers linked to North Korea by the FBI stole billions from the platform.

The exchange reported that withdrawal activity is stabilizing after an initial surge, noting that deposit volumes have remained “substantial.” Binance also stated it has now secured coverage for 95 per cent of the US$6.3 billion in assets stolen during the attack.

Analysts suggest the heist may rank as the largest financial robbery in history, adding to a recent wave of cryptocurrency thefts. The outflow serves as an early gauge of whether users retain confidence in the exchange following the incident. According to researchers at TRM Labs, attackers stole US$2.9 billion in cryptocurrency across nearly 150 incidents last year.
