Bitcoin experienced a decline of 1.6%, trading just below $82,800 during Thursday’s Asian morning session. Meanwhile, oil prices surged following reports that the White House had requested strike options from the Pentagon against Iran, which pushed Treasury yields closer to their highest levels observed since 2002.
Among major cryptocurrencies, XRP led the downturn, dropping nearly 4% to approximately $1.42. Dogecoin (DOGE) fell by 3% to just under 9 cents, and ether (ETH) lost 3% to about $2,570. HYPE and SOL each declined by more than 2%, while ZEC saw a minor slip of less than 1%. In contrast, BNB and TRX were the only cryptocurrencies to gain, each rising by less than 1%, according to data from CoinDesk.
This drop marked Bitcoin’s movement below the $83,000 threshold, a recent low that FxPro identified on Tuesday as a potential indicator of seller dominance. The firm warned that a break below this level could rapidly drive Bitcoin toward $80,000.
The decline followed a day after approximately $550 million in leveraged cryptocurrency positions were liquidated, primarily affecting traders who had bet on higher prices, as reported by CoinGlass.
