In Khuzdar, BNP-M leader Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal announced a provincewide shutdown for June 10, condemning the June 2 Zehri incident that resulted in the death of the party’s district vice‑president.
Addressing the media alongside senior BNP‑M officials, Mengal asserted that the murder of district vice‑president Sardarzada Khalil Ahmed Musiani and the subsequent detention of several members of the Musiani family constitute a serious breach of both political and tribal customs.
He alleged that security forces entered the home of tribal elder and BNP‑M leader Sardar Nasir Ahmed Musiani, violated the sanctity of the residence, assaulted family members, and shot his son before the man died from injuries after being denied prompt medical care.
He asked, “Authorities claim peace prevails in Balochistan. Is this their notion of peace… when a son is killed before his father and family members are barred from attending his funeral?”
Mengal slams killing of party leader, arrest of family members
Mengal said the BNP‑M central committee had thoroughly examined the Zehri incident and characterized it as part of a broader pattern of political pressure directed at the party.
He added that BNP‑M leaders and activists have repeatedly endured raids, arrests, and harassment under successive governments.
He further alleged that several members of the Musiani family remain detained and voiced concern for their safety, calling for their immediate release.
He criticised the authorities for allegedly preventing relatives from attending funeral rites and warned that additional legal actions could be taken against those already detained.
He also highlighted ongoing displacement efforts in parts of Balochistan, noting that residents are being compelled to vacate their homes, farms and businesses without any clear resettlement plan.
