Over the past week, three‑time Grammy Award‑winning actor Bradley Cooper and a large film crew have been on location in Monaco, shooting scenes for the forthcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel.
Set partly against the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix, the famed street circuit was restored to its 1960s appearance from 24 to 28 August, complete with replica vintage Formula 1 cars circling the track.
The untitled Warner Bros. production, currently working under the title Sandcastles, is directed and written by Cooper, whose notable credits include A Star Is Born, Silver Linings Playbook and The Hangover.
The 51‑year‑old star also appears in the film, sharing the screen with Margot Robbie as the parents of Danny Ocean, the character famously played by George Clooney in the Ocean’s series. The ensemble cast also features Wagner Moura, Monica Barbaro, Josh Gad, Vicky Krieps, George MacKay, Lauren Ridloff, Jack Holden and Omar Sy.
“Before Danny Ocean ever set foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows — his parents,” Robbie teased in a Warner Bros. preview reel shown at CinemaCon.
“You’ll see them in their prime, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”
The five‑day shoot used some of Monaco’s most iconic sites, such as Port Hercule, Avenue Princesse Grace, Place du Casino, Portier and Larvotto. Additional locations have included Paris and Nice.
The 1962 Monaco Grand Prix was won by driver Bruce McLaren, racing for the Cooper team. While Lotus’s Jim Clark had taken pole position, he retired on lap 55 due to a clutch problem. McLaren was joined on the podium by Ferrari drivers Phil Hill and Lorenzo Bandini.
The film is slated for release on 25 June 2027.
