British Diver Vanishes After Attempted Rescue of Teen in Lake Como

Italian authorities are searching for a British man who vanished after diving into Lake Como to save a teenager.

He was trying to help a father and son who were in trouble in the water near the San Siro area on the lake’s western shore on Monday afternoon, according to Italian media.

The man and the family he was acquainted with had been out on a boating excursion when the incident occurred. The father and son were later pulled to safety by another passing boat, but the man has not been located since.

The UK Foreign Office commented: ‘We are assisting the family of a British national missing in Italy and remain in contact with local authorities.’

Rescue teams, including a helicopter, divers and boat units, have been deployed to the scene, where Lake Como’s depth exceeds 200 metres, according to Italian news agency Ansa.
