Shows offered in a subscription on the prioriTIX application

PrioriTIX, a new ticket‑selling platform, has launched a subscription model that allows Broadway patrons to pay a monthly fee for a curated selection of tickets, starting at $90 per month.
Borrowing a strategy long used by touring theatre producers, the service bundles tickets for multiple shows, offering both cost savings for consumers and a more predictable revenue stream for theatres.
Michael Kaiser, chairman of the DeVos Institute of Arts and Nonprofit Management, explained that subscriptions dramatically lower marketing expenses because “you’re selling three or five tickets for the cost of one.” He added that the model provides upfront cash, which can support rehearsal and production costs, and gives theatres artistic flexibility to program riskier productions without relying on single‑ticket sales.
The pandemic disrupted subscription programs across the industry. In 2024, 42 percent of theatres reported losing 30 percent or more of their subscribers, and the New York Theatre Workshop indicated that half of its subscribers did not renew after COVID‑19 closures.
Despite these challenges, PrioriTIX founder Nellie Beavers believes demand will return. She said the platform handles ticket logistics and pricing optimization, allowing users to avoid last‑minute price spikes. “If you want to see Oh, Mary! tonight in the front mezzanine, you might pay $200,” Beavers noted. “But if you book six weeks ahead, the same seat could be $79, and we continuously monitor pricing to ensure the best value.”
The service also aims to boost advance sales, addressing the trend identified by the Broadway League in which more than half of theatre‑goers now purchase tickets less than two weeks before a performance.
Beavers, who grew up attending touring productions in Florida, was surprised to discover that Broadway lacked a comparable subscription model in 2020. After six years of development, she has now introduced the first such program to the Broadway market.
