Brutal Killing of Six Migrant Workers in Balochistan’s Turbat Uncovered

Six of seven kidnapped laborers were found with bullet wounds in Turbat, Balochistan, officials confirmed on Thursday, revealing a coordinated attack by unidentified gunmen who had earlier executed one of the victims and disposed of his body on a highway.

Two unidentified assailants blocked Turbat-Mand Road in Kech district on Tuesday, seizing seven laborers traveling in a vehicle. One was killed immediately, his remains left on the roadside, while the remaining six were later murdered after being taken to an undisclosed location.

Balochistan Home Department spokesperson Babar Yousafzai stated the six bodies, discovered in Nasirabad, showed torture marks and close-range gunshot wounds. Four victims were from Punjab, two from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and they were employed on a development project in the region.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the killings as an “attack on Balochistan’s progress,” attributing the incident to “Fitna al-Hindustan” terrorists. He called for strict accountability, emphasizing the perpetrators’ “worst brutality.”

The incident highlights Balochistan’s worsening security crisis. A May report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) noted a 109% surge in terrorist attacks in the province compared to April, with 71 incidents recorded. Kidnappings also spiked, accounting for 52 of 54 nationwide abductions.

Earlier in May, four construction company employees were abducted in Khuzdar district, and three excise officials were seized in Chagai district following gunpoint attacks on checkpoints. These events underscore the growing threat posed by armed groups in the region.
