A father has revealed how his family of five manages to dine at Chick-fil-A for under $45 using a simple yet cost-effective ordering strategy.
Jeff Johnson, a worship pastor at an Atlanta church and podcast host, shared the tip on social media, addressing the rising costs of fast food amid ongoing affordability concerns. Instead of ordering individual chicken sandwiches, Johnson recommends purchasing chicken nuggets and separate buns to create custom sandwiches for his family.
“I have a hack for every dad who’s always saying, ‘Why are we spending so much money at Chick-fil-A?'” Johnson said in a June 26 Instagram video. “Instead of everybody ordering their fried chicken sandwich and their meal, here’s what we just did and what we have been doing, and y’all need to know about this.”
Johnson explained that he orders 30 nuggets for just over $17 and purchases buttered buns at 25 cents each. The video showed the disassembly of nuggets onto buns, creating personalized sandwiches for each family member. Even with sides and drinks included, the approach helps reduce overall expenses.
“Everyone’s happy, dad’s happy. We have saved so much money,” Johnson said. “I’m just telling you, you can eat for under $45 at Chick-fil-A as a family of five if you do what I’m saying.”
While prices differ by location, traditional Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches typically range from $5 to $6 before add-ons like sides and drinks. Johnson’s method has garnered enthusiastic responses online, with many praising the money-saving idea. Comments included, “Chick-fil-A is expensive. Good advice, dude. Appreciate it,” and lighthearted jokes about the large nugget order.
Some users playfully suggested extras like pickles, while others joked about potential feedback from the restaurant chain.
