Bulgarian President Iliana Yotova and Prime Minister Rumen Radev strongly condemned recent Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia during separate meetings with Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud in Sofia on Wednesday. The discussions centered on bolstering bilateral relations and expanding security cooperation between the two nations, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Both leaders reiterated their country’s unwavering support for the Kingdom in the face of ongoing missile and drone assaults launched by the Iran-backed, Yemen-based militia. The Saudi minister’s visit comes amid a wave of international condemnation directed at the repeated strikes.
During his sit-down with President Yotova, Prince Abdulaziz conveyed greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He also congratulated Yotova on her landmark victory in Sunday’s presidential runoff, where she secured 57.6 percent of the vote to become the first woman elected to the Bulgarian presidency. She had served as acting president since January.
