The second day of the CAF Strategy Conference concluded successfully on Thursday, 8 October 2026, in Sal, Santa Maria, Cabo Verde. Chaired by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the session brought together representatives from all 54 CAF Member Associations.
The day’s opening proceedings featured keynote remarks from the Head of State of Cabo Verde, Dr. Janira Hopffer Almada, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The conference will resume for its third day on Friday, 9 October 2026, commencing at 09h00 local time (10h00 GMT / 13h00 Cairo time).
A highly anticipated panel discussion will feature FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, Arsène Wenger, alongside prominent coaches who led African national teams during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including Bubista (Cabo Verde), Hossam Hassan (Egypt), and Sébastien Desabre (DR Congo).
A primary goal of the CAF Strategy Conference is to ensure that football within all 54 Member Associations becomes world-class and self-sustaining, while simultaneously elevating the global competitiveness of CAF-organized competitions.
In recent years, CAF has significantly expanded its investment in football development and Member Association growth by hundreds of millions of US dollars through several key initiatives:
- Increased annual subventions to CAF Member Associations;
- Higher annual subventions for CAF Zonal Unions;
- The successful acquisition of new sponsorships and strategic partnerships;
- The establishment of mutually beneficial agreements with television and media broadcasters;
- Continuous improvement of the quality of television and broadcasting products.
