Following discussions between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, both nations issued a joint statement on Wednesday declaring the Palestinian cause central to Middle Eastern peace and stability. They reiterated their firm backing for the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
During their talks, the leaders addressed regional developments and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, stressing the necessity of a just and enduring resolution founded on the two-state framework.
The joint declaration endorsed the establishment of a sovereign and independent Palestinian state within the boundaries established on June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital.
Both countries firmly rejected any initiatives aimed at the forced displacement of Palestinians from their homeland, irrespective of the reasons cited for such actions.
Cairo and Beijing urged the solidification of the Gaza ceasefire, demanding unimpeded access for humanitarian aid and the prompt restoration of Palestinian Authority governance over the Gaza Strip.
The statement voiced deep concern regarding Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, specifically condemning the expansion of settlements, unlawful land confiscations, and settler violence against Palestinians.
Furthermore, the two governments underscored the significance of preserving the territorial integrity of Palestinian lands and confirmed their continued support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and its operations.
The declaration also lauded Egypt’s instrumental role in advancing regional security and stability.
