Cape Verde head coach Bubista has described the upcoming encounter with Argentina and Lionel Messi as the “match of our lives,” while emphasizing that his squad will face the defending World Cup champions without fear during Friday’s Round of 32 fixture.

The underdog side, representing an African archipelago of approximately 500,000 people, secured their historic advancement to the knockout stages following a group stage campaign that included draws against Spain and Uruguay.

“We are calm because we earned our place here through merit, and there is no reason to be intimidated,” Bubista stated during his pre-match press conference.

“We recognize the magnitude of this match. It is truly the match of our lives, but we intend to enjoy the experience and give our absolute best.”

Argentina enters the match as a primary favorite to secure a fourth World Cup title, bolstered by Lionel Messi’s clinical performance of six goals across three dominant group stage victories.

Despite the stature of the world’s top-ranked team and its legendary captain, Bubista maintained that his players remain focused on their own objectives.

“Our only thought is on how we can advance past this round,” he concluded.
