Following weeks of anticipation and leaks, Fanatics has officially revealed the 2026-27 Hometown Remix jerseys for all 32 NHL franchises. While designs vary across the league, the Carolina Hurricanes’ “City of Oaks” iteration stands out for its meticulous attention to detail and strong connection to local identity.
Struttin’ Stormy Takes Center Stage
Early leaks suggested a lighter, silver-toned base, but the final product features a richer, darker grey that serves as an ideal canvas for the team’s red, white, black, and lighter grey accents. The most striking element is the primary crest: “Struttin’ Stormy,” the anthropomorphic hog mascot introduced on the club’s 2023 Stadium Series uniform. Previously relegated to a shoulder patch, the collegiate-style logo now commands the front of the sweater.
Hurricanes Chief Marketing Officer Matt Sutor explained the decision to elevate the mark. “As a brand and as an NHL team, we’re always looking for ways to distinguish ourselves,” Sutor said. “Our Struttin’ Stormy mark has become one of the most unique and recognizable logos in hockey, and we thought Hometown Remix was the perfect opportunity to give it the spotlight. Ultimately, this jersey was designed to celebrate hometown pride, and using a collegiate-inspired mark felt like a fun, natural way to tie into the strong college roots our region is known for.”
Subtle nods to Raleigh’s “City of Oaks” moniker are woven throughout the design. The red striping on the sleeves incorporates oak leaf patterns, while the hemline features an intricate illustration depicting the Raleigh skyline, Lenovo Center, oak trees, and the “City of Oaks” wordmark. “There are a couple of smaller details that we hope fans will appreciate as they get a closer look at the uniform,” Sutor noted. “We wanted to make sure the hometown theme carried through every part of the design, even in some of the less obvious places.”

The alternate shoulder patch honors the region’s hockey heritage. Modeled after the dome of the North Carolina State Capitol building, the design mirrors the logo used by the Raleigh IceCaps, the area’s first professional hockey team (ECHL, 1991–1998). “Given that this uniform is meant to celebrate Raleigh, we thought that connection between the city and its first professional hockey team was especially meaningful,” Sutor added.
The organization has consistently acknowledged the IceCaps’ role in establishing the market’s hockey culture since the Hurricanes relocated from Hartford in 1997. “We’ve always taken pride in doing things a little differently as an organization, and I think this uniform reflects that,” Sutor said. “It’s bold, it’s unique, and there are a lot of details that connect it to our community. Hopefully fans appreciate the thought that went into it and enjoy seeing something a little different on the ice.”
The result is a cohesive, well-executed design that bridges past and present. The Hurricanes will wear the Hometown Remix uniforms 11 times during the upcoming campaign, debuting them on November 7 against the Chicago Blackhawks.
