- Casper Network is repositioning the csprUSD token as its default stablecoin for the agentic AI economy.
- The asset will go live on mainnet by Q3 2026.
Casper Network (CSPR), a proof-of-stake (PoS) Layer-1 blockchain, has announced plans to upgrade csprUSD, its native US dollar-backed stablecoin, specifically for use in the expanding agentic AI economy. Developed in partnership with Sarson Funds, a blockchain and cryptocurrency education and marketing firm, the redesigned stablecoin is intended to serve as the primary settlement currency across Casper’s decentralized applications and AI-driven transaction layers.
Key Features of Casper’s csprUSD Stablecoin
Originally developed and launched by Sarson Funds in 2024, csprUSD is now being restructured to become the standard stablecoin within the Casper ecosystem. The updated version is designed to function as the default settlement asset for applications, decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, and automated AI agents transacting via Casper’s x402 rails.
The stablecoin has already secured listings on centralized exchanges (CEX), including trading pairs against leading stablecoins to facilitate seamless entry and exit points upon full mainnet launch. It leverages Casper Enhancement Proposal (CEP)-97, which streamlines gas fee mechanisms, reducing network costs from 2.5 CSPR to as low as 0.1 CSPR per transaction. These significantly lower fees make csprUSD ideal for micropayments, ensuring transaction costs remain below the actual payment amount.
Additionally, csprUSD integrates with Casper’s ProofLayer infrastructure, providing transparent, cryptographically verifiable on-chain receipts for off-chain USD reserve collateral, minting activities, and redemption processes in real time.
Casper aims to deploy the upgraded csprUSD stablecoin on its mainnet by the third quarter (Q3) of 2026. The project is currently undergoing rigorous testnet validation and security audits. The team is also ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks governing digital assets.
Developers eager to integrate payment flows using csprUSD can begin testing the official x402 facilitator on Casper’s Testnet environment immediately.
Humans Becoming a Minority on the Internet
According to data cited by Casper from Cloudflare, automated traffic now accounts for more than half of all web activity—59.4%, to be exact—surpassing human-generated requests. AI agents represent a fast-growing portion of this trend, increasingly performing tasks such as API calls, data retrieval, service bookings, and purchasing computational resources without human intervention.
As autonomous systems continue to dominate online behavior, the demand for programmable, stable, and machine-compatible payment methods rises. With csprUSD, Casper provides a dedicated settlement layer tailored for these non-human actors operating at scale and speed.
“Agents are becoming the majority of internet traffic,” said Michael Steuer, President and CTO of the Casper Association. “They can’t fill out a checkout form, won’t sign up for yearly subscriptions, and certainly won’t initiate bank transfers. What they require is the ability to pay per request, instantly, in stable value, with predictable and minimal fees. That’s exactly what csprUSD offers—a dollar that machines can use efficiently.”
