RIYADH: Fatalities and numerous injuries were reported on Wednesday following attacks on two major airports in Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom’s General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed.
According to the authority, the strike on Abha International Airport in the Asir province, which shares a border with Yemen, took place on Tuesday. A Moroccan woman and an Algerian woman were among those killed in the incident.
The authority stated that the attack injured 28 people, some severely, including nationals from Bangladesh and the Philippines. All injured parties were promptly transported to medical facilities.
A separate strike on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport on Wednesday resulted in the death of a Sudanese man. The toll also included eight others, comprising two Egyptians and one Pakistani, according to the report.
Both incidents caused damage to the airport facilities, which the authority is currently assessing. Officials pledged to take all necessary steps to guarantee the safety of passengers and staff while maintaining the security and integrity of the civil aviation system across the Kingdom.
