This summer, the Montreal International Jazz Festival celebrates its 46th anniversary. For ten days beginning late this month, downtown Montreal will be transformed into what co-founder André Ménard describes as a “little utopian village,” featuring a mix of packed concert halls and free outdoor performances.
In this edition of Jazz Night in America, we explore the legacies of the artists who shaped the festival’s identity, featuring performances from icons such as Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Oscar Peterson, and Pat Metheny. The episode also examines the festival’s pivotal role in the early career of Diana Krall. Additionally, we highlight several standout artists appearing in this year’s program, which runs from June 25 to July 4. The complete lineup is available at montrealjazzfest.com.
