Chantelle Cameron recently secured the most significant victory in women’s boxing this year. Now, she is targeting the pound-for-pound No. 1 female boxer in the world. Cameron discussed her triumph over Mikaela Mayer and her ongoing negotiations with Claressa Shields. While Shields is reportedly interested, the matchup presents a considerable challenge: it must occur at 160 pounds, leaving the 35-year-old from Northampton at a severe size disadvantage. Cameron addressed the weight issue directly.

“I believe Claressa will come in at 160 pounds. It plays to my advantage to perform there. I’ll weigh in around 150.”

Shields has stated she will not compete below 160 pounds. Having last fought at middleweight in 2023, she has since moved up to as high as 174 pounds, where she captured the undisputed heavyweight title.

Cameron recognizes the magnitude of the bout.

“This will undoubtedly be the largest fight in women’s boxing… it is a super fight.”

I questioned whether Cameron worried about landing punches on Shields or absorbing the power of the so-called G.W.O.A.T. While she remains deeply respectful of her potential opponent, she is confident in her ability to pull off the improbable.

“I know I’m hard… I believe in my toughness.”

She anticipates the fight will take place in the United States and expressed her willingness to travel for the opportunity.
