Chelsea is keeping a close eye on Como midfielder Lucas Da Cunha following the Frenchman’s impressive rise in Serie A and his recent senior international breakthrough.
The 25-year-old has established himself as a key figure for the Italian club since his arrival from Nice in 2023. His exceptional versatility and technical ability have made him an invaluable component of their midfield setup.
Lucas Da Cunha Attracts Premier League Interest
According to reports, Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest are among the English clubs monitoring Da Cunha, while Manchester United, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Brighton have also been linked with interest in the midfielder. Chelsea’s longstanding interest is believed to predate his recent call-up to the French national squad.
Da Cunha’s profile has skyrocketed since earning his senior international debut under Zinedine Zidane. He featured prominently in France’s victory over Belgium, showcasing his qualities on a much larger stage.
Como have already recognized his vital importance to their project. The midfielder signed a contract extension with the club, committing his future after making significant progress since his arrival. Cesc Fabregas previously praised his adaptability, versatility, and tactical intelligence.
Da Cunha Could Attract a Major Offer
The midfielder’s emergence has naturally drawn increased attention from English clubs, particularly as several teams look to add creativity and flexibility to their midfield options.
Chelsea is reportedly considering their options ahead of the January transfer window, while Manchester United is also keeping tabs on the situation. Given Manchester United’s recent investments in multiple midfielders, a move to Chelsea would likely make more sense for the French international.
Como are under no immediate pressure to sell their captain, meaning interested clubs could face a difficult negotiation if they decide to make a formal approach.
Da Cunha still has plenty of room to develop, but his recent performances have already placed him firmly on the radar of clubs across Europe. A strong season at Como could further boost his value and reputation.
