According to Football Transfers, Chelsea are evaluating a potential surprise transfer for former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.
The Blues currently possess a selection of center-forward options, including João Pedro, Liam Delap, Nicolas Jackson, and Marco Guiu.
However, significant changes to the frontline appear imminent, as Guiu is expected to depart in the near future. Furthermore, uncertainty surrounds the long-term futures of both Jackson and Delap.
New manager Xabi Alonso is set to evaluate the squad during pre-season, a period during which one of the current strikers may be deemed surplus to requirements.
In light of this potential turnover, reports suggest Chelsea are considering an approach for Balogun, who has enjoyed an impressive tenure at Monaco.
The former Arsenal academy graduate recorded 19 goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 club last season and further cemented his reputation with a standout performance for the USA during the World Cup.
Monaco are reportedly prepared for incoming interest and may be willing to sanction a sale of the striker for a fee in the region of £43 million.
While Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the forward, Balogun is said to be keen on a return to the Premier League.
