Chelsea are open to the possibility of landing a new left winger if Alejandro Garnacho leaves during the summer transfer window.
The Argentine winger joined Chelsea from Manchester United last summer in a £40 million deal, but his first season produced only limited involvement.
Garnacho is not part of new manager Xabi Alonso’s plans, and the player is reportedly open to seeking a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Chelsea have valued the winger at roughly £45 million and are hopeful of securing a buyer before the window closes.
Should Garnacho depart, Chelsea are already drafting contingency plans and have identified Rafael Leão among their primary targets.
Alonso has advocated for a shift in Chelsea’s transfer approach.
The objective will be to acquire players with established track records, and Leão’s consistent performances on the left flank for AC Milan over several seasons make him an ideal candidate.
A potential fee of around £43 million has been floated, and Alonso, who previously pursued Leão at Bayer Leverkusen, has encouraged Chelsea to pursue the transfer.
