Lacroix joins Chelsea

Chelsea have secured the signature of French defender Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace.

The 26-year-old emerged as the Blues’ primary defensive target earlier last month, though the club still needed to convince the Eagles to approve the transfer.

Palace initially valued the former Wolfsburg man at no less than £60 million, but ultimately agreed to let him leave for approximately £52 million.

Lacroix has now signed a long-term contract with the west London club and is eager to begin contributing on the pitch.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “I’m really proud and really happy to be part of this project. I can’t wait to get started.”

Having completed his move, the Blues are anticipated to facilitate the exit of Trevoh Chalobah in the near future.

Como appear to be leading the pursuit to acquire the Chelsea academy graduate, with indications they are willing to offer around £25 million to finalize a deal.
