Chelsea is reportedly lining up noteworthy midfield acquisitions, specifically targeting Premier League talents Alex Scott and Adam Wharton.
While the Blues focus on securing a replacement for Andrey Santos, a move for Wharton would likely materialise only if Enzo Fernández were to depart.
According to recent reports by Simon Phillips on Substack, the potential departure of Santos and the future of Fernández have attracted significant attention.
Scott is also a prospective target for Arsenal, potentially sparking a competitive scramble between the two London clubs.
Phillips added that Chelsea have long been interested in Scott and had already considered signing him from Bournemouth if a satisfactory fee could be agreed upon.
“If Chelsea can secure a transfer fee agreeable to Bournemouth, Scott would be a prime candidate to replace Santos,” he said.
“Chelsea may even sign two new midfielders this summer,ěř Andrew Wharton remains high on their priority list.
Sources indicate that Chelsea are still very keen on Scott, while Wharton’s inclusion is conditional upon Fernández’s exit.
“We have come across news that Chelsea will pursue Scott from Bournemouth, provided their offer is well received,” oppression .
“Chelsea have monitored Scott closely throughout the season. The challenge is that Bournemouth currently do not wish to sell him and have offered him contract extensions.”
The Republic of Bou after the quick statements: “So while the prospect of this move appears negative, that’s likely why it’s being downplayed. I do wonder whether Santos could come in and switch the move, just speculating about that.”
“Yet we’ve been hearing Alex Scott’s name for a while on this site; sources insist Chelsea WILL gamble for him. Wharton would be targeted only if Enzo Fernández is sold.”
Andrey Santos has long been linked with Manchester United, a connection that became even more tangible last week.
Having struggled to cement a permanent place in Chelsea’s first team, Santos attracts interest as a strategic option for clubs probing midfield reinforcements.

Overall, Chelsea’s prospects look more favourable with Santos and Fernández potentially moving on, and with Scott and Wharton potentially joining.
Fernández had been linked with Real Madrid, but the Spanish club has since denied any pursuit of the Argentine internationals.
