The Kansas City Chiefs have locked in their 53-man roster, making strategic decisions at key positions as they head into the 2024 season.
Quarterback Chris Oladokun was waived with an injury designation, meaning he will revert to injured reserve if unclaimed. The 2022 Draft pick started the final two games of last season and has been a consistent presence in the organization since joining as an undrafted free agent. With Mahomes leading the offense, the Chiefs will rely on Justin Fields and Garrett Nussmeier as their quarterback depth.
In other moves, the team released veteran defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah, who returned to Kansas City earlier this summer after a stint with the Dolphins. Alongside Ogbah, the Chiefs also waived linebacker Cole Christiansen, cornerbacks Kaiir Elam and Kader Kohou, and defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott, who remains on the physically unable to perform list. Wide receiver Jimmy Holiday is currently on injured reserve.
The roster cutdown saw the waiver of multiple defensive linemen (Vincent Anthony, Cole Brevard, Ethan Hurkett, Niles King, Amari McNeill, Damon Payne, and Tyreke Smith) and linebackers (Kam Arnold, Wesley Bissainthe, and Cam Jones), as well as wide receivers (Andrew Armstrong, Jason Brownlee, Jacob DeJesus, Omari Evans, Xavier Loyd, and Jeff Weimer), running backs (Emari Demercado, Jaydn Ott, and EJ Smith), offensive linemen (Ethan Driskell, Chukwuebuka Godrick, C.J. Hanson, Pete Nygra, Esa Pole, and Josh Thompson), defensive backs (Tanner McCalister, D’Arco Perkins-McAllister, DeShon Singleton, Melvin Smith, and Zelmar Vedder), and tight ends (Mason Pline and Tre Watson).
