New Mexico Judge Dismisses Allegations Against Tim Busfield in Child Sexual Abuse Case

A state court judge in New Mexico dismissed charges of child sexual abuse against West Wing star Timothy Busfield, ruling that the prosecution failed to conduct fair, impartial grand‑jury proceedings.

Judge Joseph Montano noted that the prosecutor gave inaccurate instructions to the grand jury, telling jurors that at least eight members would have to agree before a witness could be summoned.

The allegations, which stem from a two‑year span when the two young twins were aged seven and eight, allege that Busfield groped one of them while filming the Fox drama The Cleaning Lady.

“I am completely innocent,” Busfield insisted, calling the accusations lies, and his legal team moved to dismiss the four‑count indictment.

In his decision, the judge allowed the prosecution to potentially initiate new charges against the former actor, according to a spokesperson for the second judicial district attorney office of New Mexico.

Authorities report the twins described the incident occurring off‑camera during production breaks on the Albuquerque set in early January of last year.
