BEIJING — China’s exports are projected to have increased by 25.5 % year‑over‑year in September, marking a modest improvement over the prior month, according to a Reuters poll released ahead of the scheduled Wednesday data release.
Imports for September were forecast to slow to 24.5 % year‑on‑year growth, down from 28.2 % in August, the poll indicated.
Earlier this year, Chinese exports and imports each achieved their strongest growth rates in five years.
A surge in demand for China‑made components used in AI data centres has boosted export volume, aided by stabilising trade relations with the United States, China’s largest partner.
Global scrutiny on the economic impact of rising exports has grown sharp recently, even as domestic demand remains weak. AI‑driven demand and higher prices of core products have likewise supported import expansion.
The United States and China announced last month plans to lower tariffs on about $30 billion worth of bilateral goods and extend a broader trade accord until January.
The European Union reported that China agreed to halve its exports of hybrid‑powered cars to the bloc following intensive trade talks in Beijing.
