Chris Jericho Reflects on AEW Journey, Says “End of the Road” May Be Near

Veteran wrestler Chris Jericho acknowledges that his time in AEW may be winding down, though he remains committed to fulfilling his role with the company.

Chris Jericho has been an active professional wrestler since 1990, cutting his teeth in WCW before joining WWE in 1999. He rose to legendary status during his time with the Stamford-based promotion. In 2019, Jericho became one of the inaugural signees when All Elite Wrestling launched, becoming the first-ever AEW World Champion and playing a key role in establishing the promotion’s credibility.

Despite his iconic status, Jericho continues to perform regularly in AEW’s ring. However, the veteran performer recently suggested that his in-ring career may be entering its final chapter.

Jericho remains committed to AEW while contemplating future

During a recent appearance on Wrestling Observer Radio, Chris Jericho discussed his current position within AEW’s roster. While emphasizing his loyalty to the company, he acknowledged that his time in the business may be limited:

I mean, it’s the same as it’s always been. I am a company guy through and through and, contrary to some popular beliefs, I do whatever the boss asks me to do. Obviously, at this stage of the game, where I’m nearing the end of the road at some point, I want to work with as many people that I haven’t worked with.

Jericho also commented on the evolving landscape of professional wrestling, particularly regarding younger talent in AEW:

There’s a lot of young guys on the AEW roster that will never have the benefit of house shows, for example, so they have to learn really quick on the fly, and it’s almost not fair, but it’s the way that the business is now.

If you have a live match with somebody on TV, it has to be the best that it can be with all the bells and whistles, because you might not get another chance to work with them. And if you don’t have a good one, it could hurt their perception.

It’s not going to hurt me because I’ve been around long enough where you almost get kind of bulletproof — win, lose, draw, whatever. Obviously, I still want to have great matches and still do everything I can to do that.

Chris Jericho says he’s “nearing the end of the road” in AEW:
