Tommaso Ciampa delivered a fierce backstage promo targeting AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo following Saturday’s edition of AEW Collision.
Andrade retained the title over Ciampa at AEW WrestleDream, securing the victory after hitting a Willow’s Bell DDT onto the championship belt followed by The DM. On Collision, Ciampa attacked Andrade moments after Andrade and Mike Bailey picked up a tag team victory.
AEW released a backstage video shortly after the show in which Ciampa acknowledged his error at WrestleDream and issued a stark warning for the future:
“I’ll be the first to admit, I made a mistake. WrestleDream, it’s on me. I made a mistake. I took him too lightly. I thought this is a two-trick pony. I thought he’s a selfie in a pair of pants. I took him too lightly. I took him as a joke. That’s on me.
It won’t happen again. Andrade, listen to me. It will not happen again.
Now, next time we see each other, next time you put that national title on the line, I’m coming for blood. I’m coming for it all. I’m taking the national title. And I don’t need to make any promises. The entire world, watch.”
Andrade initially captured the championship at AEW Redemption in Montreal on July 26, defeating Mark Davis of the Don Callis Family. He successfully defended the title three days later on Dynamite in a three-way against Jack Perry and Nick Wayne. Subsequent defenses have come against Gabe Kidd, The Beast Mortos, Daniel Garcia, PAC at AEW All Out 2026, Michael Oku at Grand Slam France, and QT Marshall at a Big Time Wrestling event in San Jose on October 18.
