Cleetus McFarland Acquires Greg Biffle’s 2004 NASCAR Cup Car at Mecum Auction for $47,000

As part of the Mecum auction held at Nashville Superspeedway, RFK Racing presented a collection of high-performance vehicles and motorsports memorabilia for sale.

Among the highlights was the iconic No. 16 ‘National Guard’ Ford Taurus (chassis RK-195), which Greg Biffle drove during the 2004 NASCAR Cup season. Powered by a Roush-built 358 cubic-inch (5.8L) Ford V-8 engine, Biffle secured two of his 19 career Cup Series victories that year. The RK-195 chassis achieved its best finish of third place at Atlanta Motor Speedway early in the 2005 season. All auction proceeds for the vehicle were donated to the Biffle Family Legacy Impact Fund.

Jordyn Biffle, Greg’s niece, expressed gratitude in a Facebook post: “Thank you to Jack Roush and everyone at Roush for including Greg’s car and pledging the proceeds to the Biffle Family Legacy Impact Fund. We’re grateful for their support and proud to see this car continue to make a difference.”

YouTuber-turned-racer Cleetus McFarland (real name Garrett Mitchell) successfully bid on the car on Saturday. McFarland developed a close personal friendship with Biffle before his tragic passing; the Biffle family had planned to visit McFarland in Florida at the time of the fatal plane crash.

Jack Roush was present at the auction, where McFarland placed his first bid of $35,000 via online stream. He continued to compete, ultimately securing the winning bid at $47,000.

McFarland launched his own racing career under Biffle’s mentorship. Although he briefly considered stepping away from racing following the tragedy, he has since recommitted to expanding his NASCAR presence. He currently holds two starts each in the NASCAR O’Reilly and NASCAR Truck Series, alongside eight starts in the primary ARCA division. His career highlights include a top-five finish in the ARCA East race at Rockingham, an ARCA national series pole at Michigan, and a near-victory at the Talladega ARCA race where he finished a close second.
