Cody Gakpo has confirmed he is not seeking a transfer away from Liverpool, contradicting recent speculation.

The Dutch forward, who was reportedly unhappy about his manager Arne Slot’s dismissal, has clarified his stance, dismissing claims about his intentions.

While earlier reports suggested Gakpo was pushing for a move, according to Alex Crook, the player has not requested to leave the club.

He stated: “Claims that Cody Gakpo has asked to leave are incorrect. Mohamed Salah’s potential return is also not supported by facts.”

Gakpo’s Role Under Slot and Current Stay

Having joined from PSV Eindhoven in 2023, Gakpo was a key player in Liverpool’s 2024/25 Premier League win, contributing 25 goal involvements. His role expanded centrally in the following season, though his contributions dipped to 15. The club’s broader performance under Slot also faced challenges.

Despite this, Gakpo remains a valued asset, with four years left on his contract. Liverpool’s plans to strengthen wing options do not affect his contract status.

When asked about speculation, Gakpo emphasized his commitment: “My focus is on helping the team succeed at Anfield.”
