Coinbase’s Chief Policy Officer, Faryar Shirzad, expressed optimism regarding the Clarity Act on Monday, highlighting bipartisan support for the legislation in its current form.
During an interview with Fox Business on Monday, Shirzad advocated for a bipartisan approach to the Clarity Act, noting that a vote could occur as early as next week.
According to Shirzad, “This bill is an extraordinarily bipartisan piece of work. It’s ready for final action. We’re very excited it’s going to get done.”

Lawmakers have been considering the Clarity Act since last year, which would establish definitive cryptocurrency regulations.
A recent draft amendment introduces restrictions on officials and their families from engaging in or promoting cryptocurrency, addressing previous opposition concerns.
Despite these changes, some Democrats remain critical, asserting that the bill in its current form falls short of expectations.
This year, the bill has stalled, with banking officials raising concerns regarding stablecoin yields and ethical implications.
Banking lobbyists have argued that attractive cryptocurrency yields offered by exchanges could erode traditional banking’s deposit base.
Shirzad dismissed these concerns, noting that banks are rapidly integrating cryptocurrency and stablecoin technologies into their own systems. He emphasized that resistance from Washington lobbyists doesn’t reflect the financial sector’s long-term strategy, which is to embrace blockchain innovation. This approach, he believes, will lead to a mutually beneficial outcome.
Leading financial institutions, including JPMorgan and Bank of America, have already begun exploring or launching stablecoin products built on blockchain technology.
