InfoWars has relaunched as a subsidiary of The Onion, marking a decisive shift from its former state as a platform for disgraced conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.
Soon after 8 p.m. ET, comedian Tim Heidecker took the host’s seat. “We’ve officially taken over InfoWars—this marks a new beginning,” he announced, with an unmistakable nod to Jones’s former delivery style while hinting at exclusive insights into the former owner’s activities.
The program then transitioned to “The Jim Haggerty Show,” where Haggerty introduced former CIA operative Neil Riker (portrayed by Phil Braun). Riker spoke critically of mainstream coverage of the 9/11 attacks and suggested that JFK’s death was in fact an assassination.
Heidecker guided the show through a series of segments that ranged from deconstructing agricultural practices to commenting on alleged funeral‑industry irregularities. He then presented what he claimed was exclusive footage of Jones in his SUV during a turbulent period, fielding calls from viewers—including a caller who introduced himself as a fellow comedian—that he dismissed as unfounded.
The 50‑minute broadcast adopted a surreal tone reminiscent of early Adult Swim, interspersed with commercials promoting unapproved health products and speculative revenue‑generation schemes.
Ben Collins, CEO of The Onion, explained that ongoing legal proceedings with the Sandy Hook families remain unresolved, yet the relaunch is a strategically planned initiative to move the platform forward.
Collins noted that merchandise sales from the takeover have already generated over $100,000 for the families, with expectations of further revenue in the future.
In a statement, The Onion declared its intent to transform the once‑notorious misinformation brand into a destination for comedy, creativity, and original programming.
Heidecker, now serving as InfoWars’ creative director, has publicly articulated a goal of accountability: “Comedy is a non‑violent way to hold the former owner’s legacy in check and bring about justice.”
