Commanders Quarterback Jayden Daniels Sustains Severe Elbow Injury Against Cowboys
The Washington Commanders closed out the first half in an agonizing fashion on Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. Quarterback Jayden Daniels was rushed off the field after suffering a devastating elbow injury during the final play of the opening period. The snap went awry, Daniels mis‑extended his arm and missed the pass attempt from the one‑yard line, leaving the Cowboys ahead 17–10.
Instantly in pain, Daniels winced and could not move without help. Within moments the stretcher arrived, and he was transported off the field.
Although the team ultimately lost 37–20, Daniels faced additional adversity afterward. Coach Dan Quinn disclosed that the quarterback suffered a dislocated elbow, which further threatened the squad’s offensive capabilities.
Just before the injury, Daniels executed one of his finest outings in recent memory, completing 11 of 17 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown while also adding 69 rushing yards.
A recurring theme this season has been damage to his elbow. Daniels sustained a comparable dislocation early in the 2025 campaign against the Seattle Seahawks, an injury that had already forced him to miss ten games, with roughly a full month of loss due to ongoing rehabilitation.
Entering the second half, Marcus Mariota stepped in as starter. He logged an efficient 11‑for‑16 performance, throwing 111 dollars and a touchdown as the commanders fought to catch up.
