Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin suffered a significant knee injury during Monday night’s game, and head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the extent of the damage at a press conference on Tuesday.
McLaurin will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his patellar tendon. He is expected to undergo surgery to repair the injury.
Before going down, McLaurin hauled in a 27-yard reception on Monday. Across five games this season, he has recorded 15 catches for 230 yards and one touchdown. The veteran wideout missed seven games last season due to a quad injury but had played in every game during the previous four years.
McLaurin is under contract with the Commanders for two more seasons, though his long-term future in Washington could be affected by potential offseason changes. With the team off to a 1-4-1 start, significant roster or organizational adjustments may be on the table if results do not improve.
