Russia’s long‑range strikes on Ukraine typically combine drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. The drones, largely based on the Iranian ‘Shahed’ design, are becoming faster, more sophisticated and more numerous. Since last summer, Ukraine has countered this threat with a potent new system: the interceptor drone. Our correspondent Gulliver Cragg spent a day with one of the teams deploying these drones to protect the skies over Eastern Ukraine.
