Conor Benn to Face Ryan Garcia for WBC Welterweight Title on September 12 in Las Vegas

Conor Benn is set to face Ryan Garcia for the WBC welterweight championship in Las Vegas on September 12.

Garcia, a highly prominent figure in boxing, has exchanged frequent verbal sparring with Benn in recent months.

Last year, Benn moved up to middleweight to settle a rivalry with Chris Eubank Jr., son of Nigel Benn’s longtime rival Chris Eubank Sr.

Benn incurred his first professional loss when Eubank Jr outpointed him at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, though he exacted revenge in a November rematch by dropping Eubank twice en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Returning to welterweight, Benn secured a win over Regis Prograis on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s comeback bout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April.

Benn emphasized that his sole focus is to capture a world championship, as he explained to Sky Sports.

He reflected that while he is now more comfortable in life, his training has intensified and become more purposeful, driven by a clearer intent than ever before.

His goal is to emulate his father — a British boxing legend — by winning the WBC title.

“Capturing a world title is my ultimate objective,\” he affirmed.

Garcia endured an upset defeat to Rolando Romero, the WBA world champion, last year, but he rebounded by dropping and outpointing Mario Barrios in February to claim the WBC 147‑pound belt.

“This fight is for Mexico and the UK. Both nations want to see him defeated, and the hype will be extinguished,\” Garcia declared.
