Corn futures fell between 2.75 and 7.75 cents per bushel on Wednesday, with the front‑month contracts leading the decline. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price dropped 7.5 cents to $4.84. Market participants were trimming risk ahead of the anticipated meeting between U.S. and Chinese leaders scheduled for Thursday.
A USDA report revealed a private export sale of 100,000 metric tons of 2026/27 corn to Mexico earlier in the day. Traders are closely monitoring Thursday’s Export Sales data, expecting bookings of 0.8 to 1.4 million metric tons for the week ending September 17.
This week’s EIA data showed ethanol production at 1.028 million barrels per day for the week of September 18, down 71,000 barrels daily from the previous period. Ethanol inventories decreased by 537,000 barrels to 25.683 million barrels.
Coceral now forecasts the combined EU‑UK corn harvest for 2026 at 48.6 million metric tons, a reduction of 4.1 million metric tons from its prior estimate.
