Cotton futures rose between 1 and 7 points across the front months on Friday, while some contracts declined 8 to 20 points. The December contract gained 355 points for the week. Meanwhile, crude oil fell 19 cents and the U.S. dollar index slipped 0.063 points.

Commitment of Traders data revealed that managed money increased their net long position by another 5,798 contracts in cotton futures and options for the week ending August 18. The net long position reached 78,668 contracts as of Tuesday.

Export Sales data released on Thursday shows 2026/27 cotton export commitments at 4.235 million RB, up 31% year‑over‑year. This represents 37% of the USDA export projection, below the 43% average sales pace but ahead of last year’s 29% pace.

The Cotlook A Index rebounded 300 points on August 20 to 98.90 cents. ICE certified cotton stocks remained steady at 70,643 bales on Thursday. The Seam reported just 55 bales sold in the August 20 auction at 81.6 cents per pound. The Adjusted World Price climbed 143 points on Thursday to 69.62 cents per pound.

Oct 26 Cotton closed at 87.07, up 5 points.

Dec 26 Cotton closed at 88.35, up 1 point.

Mar 27 Cotton closed at 90.15, up 7 points.
