A Croatian court has approved the extradition of a Ukrainian national sought by German authorities over the 2022 undersea blasts that damaged the Nord Stream gas pipelines, according to state broadcaster HRT.
HRT Television quoted the suspect’s lawyer, Ljubo Pavasković, saying he intends to appeal the September 18 decision, and it remained unclear when the individual might be transferred to Germany.
He was detained in August in the northern Croatian town of Pula pursuant to a European arrest warrant.
German prosecutors allege that the suspect, described as a trained scuba diver, helped place explosives on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines in the Baltic Sea off the Danish island of Bornholm.
