On Cut Worms’ new album, Transmitter, Max Clarke collaborated with Jeff Tweedy at Wilco’s iconic Loft studio in Chicago. Clarke opened for Wilco in 2024, and an impromptu jam session led to the partnership.

Clarke, who normally maintains tight creative control, decided to step back and let Tweedy steer the project. The resulting record blends the sensibilities of both artists.

Upcoming, Max discusses recording Transmitter, the production tool he refuses to use, and his surprising encounter with Paul McCartney, a lifelong Beatles fan.
