Dana White has recently made a surprising comment regarding fighter compensation.
At a juncture when fighter compensation remains a contentious issue in combat sports — particularly boxing — Zuffa Boxing’s chief, a former MMA promoter, has taken a firm stance.
Dana White On Fighter Pay
In a recent interview, White questioned the rationale behind paying substantial minimum contracts to fighters who have yet to prove themselves.
White said:
“I should pay you $370,000 to see if you belong in the UFC?”
This remark follows Zuffa’s most high‑profile signing to date: Conor Benn, who reportedly received $15 million for his victory over Regis Prograis in Tottenham.
Benn secured a unanimous decision win in April, featured on the undercard of the Tyson Fury versus Arslanbek Makhmudov event.
Could Dana White’s Fighter Pay Comments Push Fighters Away?
Zuffa’s recent signing of Ryan Rozicki, scheduled to face Chris Billam‑Smith in Bournemouth on June 6, adds context to the debate.
Whether this stance will deter fighters or attract further talent remains uncertain.
