Senator Darline Graham (R-SC) emerged victorious in South Carolina’s Republican Senate primary runoff on Tuesday. Graham, who has positioned herself as a steadfast ally of Israel, pledged to continue the political legacy of her late brother, Senator Lindsey Graham, following his recent passing.
Graham was appointed to fill the Senate seat temporarily and will now compete against Democrat Annie Andrews in the November general election. She successfully defeated Representative Ralph Norman (R-SC) in the runoff to secure the Republican nomination for the full six-year Senate term.
The primary victory represents a significant political win for former President Donald Trump, who actively recruited Graham and offered his endorsement shortly after her brother’s death.
“She only knows how to put America first,” Trump was quoted as saying during a campaign rally in Myrtle Beach. “You vote for her, you’re going to be very proud of that vote.”
