QUETTA — Two students from a religious seminary and another individual lost their lives in separate explosions that occurred on Tuesday in Quetta and the Luni area of the Duki district.
Police officials reported that teenage students from Imdadia Madrassah were playing at the Eidgah ground in Quetta’s Sariab district when a blast injured three children.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported the injured children to Civil Hospital; two of them later died from their injuries.
The victims were identified as 10‑year‑old Muhammad Sufyan and 11‑year‑old Khalil‑ur‑Rehman, both of whom sustained multiple injuries in the powerful blast.
Another injured student, seven‑year‑old Asadullah, was also identified.
A bomb disposal unit examined the site and determined that the explosion resulted from a grenade that detonated while the children were playing.
After completing legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to their families; authorities continue to investigate the incident.
In a separate incident, a man was killed by a bomb blast in the Luni area of the Duki district.
Police stated that unidentified individuals had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) by the roadside; the device detonated when a motorcyclist struck it, killing the rider instantly.
The victim’s body was transferred to Duki Hospital, and further investigation is underway.
