Ukrainian officials report that Russian forces launched a wave of missiles and drones overnight, resulting in at least 11 fatalities, dozens injured, and numerous people trapped.
According to authorities, Russia struck Ukraine on Tuesday night with a barrage of missiles and drones, killing at least 11 individuals, injuring dozens, and trapping many.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported that at least four civilians were killed and 58 wounded, among them three children, and that residential structures and other civilian infrastructure sustained damage across eight districts of Kyiv.
Further strikes were reported in the central Dnipropetrovsk region, where at least six people were killed and 36 injured after Russian attacks hit Dnipro, per the emergency service; a second wave also claimed the life of a rescuer.
A two‑story residential house and a portion of a four‑story apartment complex were damaged, with several individuals trapped beneath the debris of the larger structure.
Explosions resonated throughout most of the night into early morning. Kyiv had been on high alert for days following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s warning that Russia was preparing a renewed assault, urging citizens to remain vigilant and seek shelter during air‑raid alerts.
In the Podilskyi district, upper floors of a nine‑story building were partially damaged, leaving people trapped under rubble; rescue operations continued into the early morning while an air‑raid alert remained active.
Ukrainian officials are urging allies to supply additional air‑defense missiles to counter Russian ballistic attacks. Although Ukraine successfully intercepts a high proportion of drones, ballistic missiles continue to represent a critical vulnerability for the nation’s air defenses.
