Russia Fires New Barrage on Kyiv Region, Wounding Eight

On Monday, Russian forces fired ballistic missiles at Kyiv’s capital region, igniting fires and wounding at least eight people, officials reported after overnight exchanges.

This was the second attack on Kyiv and its outskirts within a week, reflecting the broader escalation of long‑range strikes since Russia’s 2022 invasion.

An AFP reporter in Kyiv heard over ten explosions as a ballistic missile alert sounded early Monday, and about half an hour later observed multiple flashes as another wave of blasts erupted.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said on Telegram that the enemy was launching ballistic missile strikes.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that air‑defence systems were active and urged residents to stay in shelters.

Mykola Kalashnyk, the regional governor, said on Telegram that the latest enemy attack on the Kyiv region caused injuries.
