In Sunday’s Superbike TT, Dean Harrison secured a commanding lead from the outset, maintaining it through the entire six-lap race without facing significant competition.
This marks Harrison’s sixth TT victory, including his inaugural win in the Superbike class.
Peter Hickman claimed second place, trailing Harrison by 15.580 seconds on Harrison’s Honda at the finish. Harrison eased up on the final lap despite holding a substantial lead, showcasing sportsmanship with such a large margin.
Hickman, the sole non-Honda rider in the top five, competed on a BMW 1000RR. His battle with Michael Dunlop for the remaining podium spots turned decisive after the second pit stop round at Lap 4, where Dunlop’s four-second delay in the garage allowed Hickman to extend his advantage.
Dunlop settled for third, 12.4 seconds behind Hickman and nearly a full minute ahead of Joshua Brookes in fourth. Veteran TT racer John McGuinness, the all-time leader excluding Dunlop, finished fifth at age 54.
The top ten also included Ian Hutchinson, Jamie Coward, Nathan Harrison, Mike Browne, and Paul Jordan.
The event saw seven riders retire, while three others failed to qualify for the grid.
Racing resumes Tuesday with the Superports TT (4 laps), followed by the Sportbike TT (3 laps).
